Review of the County Council Elections May 2017

8 May 2017

44 people helped us with the local elections in Scarborough held on the 4th of May 2017.

Dilys Cluer organised and scheduled the delivery of resident surveys, newsletters, canvassing and voting reminders, polling station telling etc. Many doors were knocked on in the Falsgrave and Stepney ward to promote David Malone and the Green Party.

We had some excellent feedback on what matters most to local people and we came within 70 votes of winning, a rise from 4th to 2nd place. Charlotte Bonner, standing for the first time, beat UKIP in the Ramshill and Weaponness division.

Nationally, Greens made gains in county councils, despite the lack of co-operation from other political parties where we offered to work in partnership with them. Now we begin our focus on the general election and giving the public a real choice between the same old politics or a new vision of the future where everyone matters and nature and the planet have equal rights.
