Newsletter Delivery Paused

19 November 2020

Scarborough Green Party has delayed delivery of its latest ward newsletter in view of the local spike in Covid-19 cases.

A newsletter for the Weaponness and Ramshill Ward was almost ready for printing when the decision was made by a local party meeting.

Urging delay, Cllr Neil Robinson said:

"I really don't think we should be out and about delivering newsletters at present.  There's a lot of infection about and pressure on the hospital is increasing."

Members agreed to delay delivery until early December even though they had been advised that newsletter delivery could continue during lockdown.

Local campaign organiser Dilys Cluer said,

"We are sorry that residents will have to wait for our news.  When we do start delivering, we will be taking precautions such as using hand sanitiser and wearing masks as much as possible, and we will always try to stay at least 2 metres from other people. The risk of infection from paper is said to be low, and residents can handle our newsletters in the same way as they handle post."
